Some of us, mainly me, like to sleep in total darkness. I'm not sure if anyone has noticed this, as a google search of the problem has not yet yielded any results, but the powerbook "sleeping" light thing on the open button is REALLY REALLY BRIGHT. Not only is it bright, the brightness oscillates from really bright to light up the whole opposite wall bright. Brighter still is the green light on the power cord which notifies me that my computer is in fact charged, and that no, the cord has not been pulled out in the last five minutes that nobody has touched it and the laptop has been sitting in my dark room.
All this was annoying the fucking hell out of me from 10:38PM, when I got in bed, to about 11:20PM, when I got out of bed in frustration to fix the problem. I have been living with these annoyances for over a year now. My solution was to use that double sided foam mounting tape stuff, and stick cardboard on one side (luckily I found a fairly heavy weight card that was actually silver, the color of my laptop, so it doesn't look that ugly). The other sticky side goes on the light.
And I can still see the light. Not just in the dark, where, naturally, it would be more apparent. No, I have all the lights on in this room, and even with these other luminescent interferences, I can still CLEARLY see those two lights, under the cardboard and the foam mounting tape. While this result is satisfactory for now, I am not planning on putting up with this further.
Next Mission: Go to sleep so that I don't skip class tomorrow like I did today.
Next Next mission: knit/sew a kind of bag that will fit over the green light, which is the most annoying out of the two.
P.S. Does one capitalize "with" in titles? I don't feel like thinking about it right now.

Can you sleep with ambient noise in the room, like a fan?
